Week 5-6 2013 TRI for Roses

Well, I didn't get to blog about my training as much as I wanted but I guess that's good because I was focused on training. Week 5 went well. Started feeling comfortable with my swim and more confident with the bike and run. Week 6 was hard. I worked a lot and was tapering off so it felt like I wasn't doing enough. I also got an upper respiratory infection. It's fun to do a triathlon when you can't breathe...anyway of course I did it. The swim was miserable. I felt like I was drowning. I didn't have bad time but it is definitely my weakest area. Didn't help that the girl in my wave is on the "TIDERIDERS" swim team in Fort Smith. She best my by 2min and 10 seconds on the swim. I beat her on the bike and run and overall though which was nice! I placed first in my age group and 4th overall. My age group win was a big surprise and I was so thankful!! It was so much fun (once it was over!). While I was in it, I kept thinking, "why do people do this? It's so crazy!" Afterward, I cried a little and thanked God for my completion of training and the race. What a huge accomplishment for me! I'm honestly kind of lost now. I have been on such a strict schedule and now I don't know what to do with myself. You better believe I went to popeyes yesterday and made cinnamon rolls for breakfast today! Aaron and I tried to swim laps today and ended up in a "Arthritis Relief" elderly water aerobics class...we just kind of walked around, stretched out and left. We were getting some pretty dirty looks because we asked if we could swim. Lap lanes were closed. I only have a few pics and Aaron's mom is emailing me some so I will slowly post pics.
